Hong Kong Spam

I collect spam. Sounds silly, but I do pass the information to many organisations who use it to protect themselves.

Recently, there has been a large increase in spam based on .hk domain names. It would appear that spammers and other related crooks have realised that the Hong Kong domain registration allows anybody to register anything.

But are the authorities fighting back.

In the last two days, I've had two Hong Kong domain-based scams; LB-Technology and United Cargo Solutions. In fact I've received well over a hundred e-mails from both.

All web sites associated with these scams appear to have been shut down in the last few hours. This morning, another Hong Kong based scam, Lux Capital, also seems to have been torpedoed.

So perhaps the fightback has begun against the spammers.

I have a lot more quantitative information on this and other spam matters if anyone is interested.

It's a bit like a hydra. As fast as one site is closed there are three more ready to roll. But at least the one site goes.

James thanks for your posting re United cargo Solutions. I too received their email and was suspicious, so I did a Google, found a real company, then Googled agian and added the word fraund... and up your site came! The website is still alive by the way. Ididnt bother persuing the links to see what the fraud is as I didnt want my IP address to be available to them. Keep up the good work!

They just keep adding more addresses as they get closed down.
