Update August 17, 2009

I had this comment, which indicated that the e-mail has changed.

According to the comment dates it looks like that new email address lisa.stone@dnsjob.su has been used from August. I have received this email today, contacted reed global head office and send them the email with evidence that this is a fraud. So we will see what will be done about it. Thank you for sharing your experience, really helped me not to be tricked on this.

I have been advised by Reed that anyone else who gets this scam with Reed mentioned should use the link, http://www.reed.co.uk/ContactUs.aspx, to contact them with full information.

Important Notes :-

1. Whatever you do, do not respond to any e-mail like this. If you have given bank details to any fraudster like this, then inform your bank immediately and also make sure that you close the account.

2. If the e-mail mentions a well known e-mail address such as from gmail.com, live.com, yahoo.com etc., then why not forward the offending e-mail to abuse@gmail.com, abuse@live.com etc. Hopefully, they'll remove the e-mail address, which will stop people being sucked in.

Thanks for this. I have just received an e-mail exactly like this but I thought it might be a scam as it asked for my bank details. I don't think I would have fallen for it but it was nice to be proved right and that I hadn't wasted a chance to get a part time income

I actually applied for this position via totaljobs.com, and because I actually applied for the job I didn't see nothing wrong with it really, until I saw the salary as part-time I thought it was too good to be true. I spoke to people about it and still I submitted my details and got a call back from 'Drop n Sell' people but the bank account details I gave them are to a bank account that they can do next 2 nothing with it, I cant even use the card to pay for goods at shops and it doesn't accept direct debits either but I'm now on the phone with the bank to let them know anyway. Thank you for this!

Correction I didn't apply for the position they found my details on totaljobs.com. I'm aware that we have the choice to have our details for potential employers on show or not but any1 that pays them will have access to our details. still I got a call from them plus a lot of things change in the email still very similar though!

Hi there: I also was offered this job today through totaljobs.com when I hadn't applied for it. Luckily I was suspicious reading the agreement as the English was so poor, and obviously the pay is a bit questionable.
Nice to get confirmation that I was right though! Thanks

I would really like some clarification in regards to this matter, Is it fraud or not? how can they send a conrtact of employment requesting so many details and get away with it?

They get away with it because they are based in some probably tin-pot country where they bring in money from abroad. So the governemnt who are probably their friends love them for all the bribes they pay.

They also get away with it because people will believe anything might make them money when they are down on their luck.

But remember that if something is too good to be true, it probably is!

I forgot to say that Drop N Sell appears to be an American company that helps people sell on eBay.

That to me is NOT a luxury goods manufacturer.

Got an email today and was also puzzled - as I didn't apply for this. Seemed too good to be true so I did some checking out and found this site. I was suspicious that they weren't even interested in interviews or anything, just to start straight away and then take bank details - also there was no phone number!

Looking through the comments, I am interested... Woman's email was kate.lawrence.dns@googlemail.com (which is different to the one but similar to it also) and I thought it was funny that although there is a webpage for this "company" the email adress was with googlemail which I thought was super odd!

Hope nobody else is scammed by these people who clearly no moral fibre!!! Kick a man when he's down hey!

emailed gmail with the address used.... and for the fun of it used a different address that I have for nothing to send an email to this Kate Lawrence..stating I know this is a fraud and I have reported her to various authorities.

if you have actually gone ahead with this scam CONTACT YOUR BANK NOW. freeze your account and let them deal, also contact your local police fraud department and give them everything you have. this is what I have been advised to do.. oh and but the person who sent you the email on your junk list!

I got the same email this morning in fact when i saw it i was so exicited, but it looked to good to be true.It claimed that they received my CV and covering letter from a recruitment website called totaljobs and from what i have read it seems like fraud they sent a attachment with this email saying that, if i'am intereseted in the trial period i should sign the document and write down my home address bank deatils such as the name of the bank, account holder name, branch sort code etc.It seemed a bit worrying because they never even asked for a interview or put down any address of where they are located and phone number. It was only then when i read the agreement form i knew it was fraud so i decided to do reseach about the comapnay and came across this site.So i quickly reported to totaljobs.com via email and reported to abuse@gmail.com.
IF YOU RECEIVED A EMAIL FROM (kate.lawrence.dns@gmail.com) PLEASE REPORT SO WE CAN PUT A STOP TO ALL THESE SCAMS.

I don't think this Texas company has anything to do with the email that we've been recieving from Miss Kate Lawrence, so definetly for me this is a big fraud!! Watch out!!

I spoke to a police officer who lives a few doors away from me, and he saw the print out and saw nothing wrong with it apart from the salary. Drop n sell could be a scam but I wouldn't know. because even though they could be scammers, they cannot do nothing to anyones account, I was sent an email confirmation about the same thing, but actually did apply for the role. I have been told that it could be a genuine job role, and if it turns to be a scammer, then I will not get in any trouble at all, because I was not to know if it can be trusted or not. So I will carry on till adviced by my solicitor to stop. If anyone else needs advice, just drop an email.

its a 100 % fraud
have got it verified with many ppl and googled throughout this evening..

they are smart... although some ppl believe that they can do nothing with the bank details.. but there are many things that can be done.. and if even by mistake you go in for a transaction with them.. u surely are ransacked..

first u might get small payments and feel happy and top of the world.. and may feel smart to keep nothing in your bank account for any one to scam but guys they are smarter...

one fine morning you might find that although you dont have any money in your account and no overdraft facility... THEY HAVE USED YOUR BANK ACCOUNT TO PAY FOR SOME HEAVY GOODS.. AND THERE IS THE TROUBLE..

SO dont even dare to get in to this..

IT IS A BIGGER SCAM THEN IT LOOKS

But at the end of the day, have you spoken to that Kate woman??? Were you stupid to give your 3 dijit security number at the back of your card? Because my account is protected against fraud if this is fraud, which honestly speaking, I don't think it is.

Rule no1: A Fraudster will never contact you by telephone.

Rule no2: They will only ask for 3 transfers but big sums, so they can take money out of your account.

Rule 3: If they like scamming accounts, they will do it on the 3rd or 4th transaction so they don't get caught.

Now as you all have noticed, that drop n sell have now come off the internet website, they have gone private because bigger companies like movado, tag h are now getting involved, but in other countries. But is all upto you to beleave if they are trust worthy or not, if you want to carry out the job and tasks given, then get your bank account blocked from money going out, don't be stupid about it and leave it to the last minute and it being to late...Think about it.

Only reason why I know how scammers are is because my brother used to do it himself with his mates and they all faced hard time for it.

Have a nice day.

Another victim,
We received the email from kate.lawrence.dns@gmail.com for the job offer. I have done the first transfer and got 5% commission of £64. Luckily I saw these blogs today and closed my account.
I really thought it is too good to beleive. But something made me take a chance. I dont know. I filled in application form and everything seems quiet normal. Still i did not experience any serious problems yet. But now I have a doubt whether my identity will be in threat. Can they use my identity to do forge transactions. Any way I hope they cannot do anything for my bank account. Oh I am depressed with this. Please help me and let me know how I will be affected. Do I need to tell Police about this.

I have recently been contacted by Kate Lawrence, they sent me the agreement, I foolishly sent them back my details, bank included. I received details of my first transfer. With the amount that was supposed to be wired to my account did not show up in it at all the whole day. I had contact with this Kate Lawrence cia email, and I received a call from Drop N Sell, but the lady said she was calling from New York and her english wasn't great. I sent quite a few emails to Kate but with no response and the number that I was given is a fax machine. Also as someone else mentioned when they call they always call with their number withheld. I shall tell my bank incase they may do some sort of fraud using my details. I would like to know what their telephone number is so that I can call them and try and get some closure on what's going on? Does any1 have their office number? If so email justin.inniss1@yahoo.com

Thanks for all the info. Yeah I got this email yesterday. It looked bit wierd so I've made a lil research and found your site. They found me through monster.com btw there is quite a lot of good informatin on monster about scam and all that. I think our lovely Kate Lawrence is looking for candidates for so called 'spoofing'
This what you can read on monster.com

'Phishing' and how do I spot it
Phishing emails are used to fraudulently obtain personal identification and account information. They can also be used to lure the recipient into downloading malicious software. The message will often suggest there are issues with the recipient's account that requires immediate attention. A link will also be provided to a spoof website where the recipient will be asked to provide personal/account information or download malicious software. Monster will never ask you to download software in order to access your account or use our services.

'Spoofing' and how do I spot it
Spoof emails often include a fraudulent offer of employment and/or the invitation to serve as a go-between for payment processing or money transfers. This scam is primarily directed at a general audience, but it can also reach Monster members who have included contact information on their CV. Like with phishing emails, the sender's address is often disguised.

Hi Probably I am the worst victim of this fraud drop n sell. I was applying for job as a bookkeeper and accounts assistant through some internet job agencies (reed, hays, total jobs and london jobs)in april i got a job offer from total jobs working as an addministrative asst. I was impressed about that, as i am registred with those job websites this kate lawrance has sent me da contract paper to sign and send her back and i did. few days later Genifar Anderson named a lady spoke to me for confirm me about da job. on 5th may i received email abot first transfer to my acc.and I performed the job as it was stated in the email and u know wot happend two days later?? police took me to the station and I was questioned for more then 50mints.and my bank acc. are frozen and I had to pay all the money back to bank from my own pocket. But police stoped my case and told me I am a victim and not guity. more over bank told me i am not allowed to hav any bank acc.with them.Is there any organization can help me from this position so that I can get a bank acc. in addition I have sent all the documents to the bank to investigate my case (to prove my innocence) but it is so injustice on me that bank did not gave me a single favour. where m I? is this a world where U are always a victim of being honest and fair? I was victim of drop n sell and again i am victim of bank.

Like everyone else here, Im unemployed and searching all the major job sites. 1st I was pleased to see a email saying I was getting a trial period for the position, but alarm bells started ringing when I saw how much they are paying for part time work. The 2nd alarm bell was when they asked me for my bank details. 3rd alarm bell was I could not remember applying for the positon. Thankfull I keep a record of all the jobs I apply for. Guess what? I never applied for the position.

can anyone who has the idea to help me to claim my money from bank that they have taken from my account being victim. I dont understand one thing why bank and police cant work together to catch the lady kate lawrence? they are not doing it but bank grabbing our money for not being guilty. so it is now clear that in recesasion bank made another plan to trap us using kate lwrance and take our money to pay their employees bonuses, how funny.in another side employees of banks must me invilved in it becos how come the their accounts are hacked and transfered money to us and at the end we are paying the penalty where we are not involve at all. I think some people are crazy after losing their bank jobs and they are hapilly taken the cheeky way to make money.

I just can't believe this... i received an email from Kate Lawrence a few hours ago and i was soooo happy! But it did all seem strange, the amount of money.... how they gave me a job without seeing or speaking to me, and then as i looked over the contract it wanted bank account details and i thought let me Google these people and it lead me straight to this practically! Still couldn't believe it but hearing whats happened to some of you guys has made me realise how lucky i am not to have gone straight for it. and for those of you that are in a tricky situation because of this nasty evil cow thats makin money off people that are just genuinely looking to work and earn a decent crust, i wish you all the best..... Oh and i hope they get you BITCH

Got this message today its now KateLawrence.ukdns@ymail.com. Knew it was a scam as i never applied for this and it said we recieved your resume?? Also my CV is hidden on Monster.com so people cant view it. Decided to research this and found this website, just confirmed my suspicions thanks guys. Its a money laundering scam which could get u in some deep stuff. Could be linked to any criminal activities from drugs, illegal arms, robbery to terrorism, its all to clean up the bank notes and keep them in circulation. Just ignore it my advice. Thanks

Go to your bank and close the account.

I also feel that you shoulod go to Police. I have had over 60 comments about this scam, plus a few e-mails.

If the Police don't do anything, then write to your MP.

I have just recieved this email, and it sounds to me very much like money laundering.
I used to work in the financial sector and also at a Western Union Outlet, and this seems not be b a scam to get money from your account, but a scam to involve innocent jobseekers in illegal activity with money. Regardless of whether or not you are aware that you are engaging with in illegal money laudering, you can still get in a whole heap of trouble for it.
My advice is to ignore the email at all costs and report any information you have to https://secure.crimestoppers-uk.org/ams.form.anonymous.asp

Whatever you do, do not allow payments for goods you have not sold to enter your bank account!

If you have already given your details, all I can suggest is that you contact your bank and let them know, and also contact the police and tell them that you have been scammed.
I think we all need to contact totaljobs.com and monster.com or whichever job site they got your details from and make them aware of what is going on.

Always listen to your inner voice to guide you as I did :-)

Keep your contract that The girl Kate gave you so no charges will be held against you...word of a warning, your bank account maybe shut down by the bank, but your credit rating should not be touched, but if it is, the you can always apeal against it as you were not to know.

Everyone please be aware that a lady named Lisa Stone is now using this scam, her email address is lisa.stone@dnsjob.su and she sent me an email after seeing my CV/resume on Monster!!!! After reading all your comments about Kate Lawrence, I can only assume this is the same thing, perhaps she is now using a different name!!

I received this email yesterday and was at first pleased as I had een applying to so many jobs online. But as I looked closer to the contents of the email and the agreement I grew suspicious and emailed "Lisa Stone" back asking for the job reference for the position as I could not match the job description to any of hte jobs I had applied for.

It is all too suspicious. I have never known for a company to request your bank details the way they are. I am glad i googled the company and came across this site. I hope that other people are just as cautious!

Just for reference they got my details from Reed website! I really think the recruitment agencies should be a bit more precautious about who they allow to search for our data!

I just received an email from lisa.stone@dnsjob.su referring to a Reed application. It definitely seemed dodgy, hence putting her email address into Google and this blog being the first hit. I have no doubts now that this is a scam - general rule of thumb is, if you start off smiling and excited when reading an offer, then gradually find yourself frowning the more you read, it's probably a scam. Especially when they offer £1800p/m for part time work and ask for your bank details in the first email.

Thanks for this blog!

Hi All,

I received the same job offer from lisa.stone@dnsjob.su. I was also suspicious as the salary was just too sweet. I replied to the email and got even response back..it didn't really convince me to proceed with this and as I am reading all these comments I am glad I never did..
