Actually, I replied to this and they have sent me 4 assignments. I'm owed about $147 for about 30 minutes of actual work.
We'll see if they actually pay though.
My son replied to this and has done several assignments. He is so sure this is legitimate but I am not. I sure hope he is right. I am just waiting for the 'ok, we will pay you, just give us your social security number or checking account number'.
Post if you do or don't get paid.
I'm dubious.
1. It came from a smal e-mail address.
2. There is no web site.
3. The e-mail is GMail.
They have certainly followed the old maxim, that is that if it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck and waddles like a duck, then it usually is a duck.
I am also involved, have done a few assignments.
They say these are their web sites and address..

I found evidence this IS A SCAM !
Check out this article.

The text-editing is a way to get you involved in a money laundering scam. They will eventually ask you to take and forward money for them.
Having read the story, I would advise everybody who has given their bank account details to this group to go to your bank and close your accounts now, before it is too late.

DEFINITELY A SCAM FOLKS...
I replied, did about a week's worth of assignments and then they sent me an e-mail asking that I choose to become a wire transfer recipient because they no longer text editors.
When I told them that I would not do anything that required banks and money transfers because I have a 3year old son that I can't raise if I'm in prison, They NEVER SENT ANOTHER EMAIL TO ME.
I later asked if they would at least pay me for the work I had already done. AGAIN, NO RESPONSE.
It's been a month now and nothing!!!
Me, too - - I've been editing their text for about 10days now, and today received that notice that they instead now want me to be a "Local Agent" and set up a bank checking account for money transfers. Just one small detail - - it must be an account that's older than 3 months. That told me that first, they can't stand the scrutiny that new accounts are subject to, and second, it would have to be my own old account. That decided it for me - - I told them no, thanks, I'm done with everything.
If there is one rule on the Internet about scams, it's that you don't give anybody your bank account details.
You have made the ride decision.
Thanks for sharing! I sent them my information, name, address, etc but thankfully because of your posts, I am stopping there. I knew it would be too good to be true!
thank you guys :)
u gotta love the internet
I did two days of texts and told some of my friends about this. They sent their name and info and a few days later all received the same text files they wanted me to edit. Ha, what a scam. I sent them back an email exposing this to them and haven't heard back from them. What a surprise, hope no one has given them thier bank info.
They actually posted on a job site this past Sunday on Cleveland.com. I responded but then got suspicious so I Googled them and found this blog. I then warned the website of the hoax and they took their posting down. Thanks Guys! You saved a few people from some conmen!! CEE-GEE
I wish i could tell the world about what a scam this is. I have never heard of people giving text editing jobs and even setting up multiple seemingly legit websites and page after page of mass mailed letters just to build trust and the prospect of being paid so they could offer jobs with money laundering?? I got the "job" offer e-mail today asking me to give them all my bank information so they could send money to my account. I had only researched them the night before and found the name dating group tied to international money fraud. I would never give my bank account info to anyone online regardless, but what i found out online (with a bit of research) really sealed it for me. I spent a week editing letters just to find out they wanted me to trust them enough and be hungry enough to get paid for my work editing to take the fall for them. Client dating cash and "present" delivery my butt. It's not fair. I wish we could do something to stop them. :(
Yea, I saw them advertising today on careerbuilder.com as well, but i think they caught on to these jerks and shut down their page, at least that's what i hope.
Yes, I too have fallen victim and have edited 4 rounds of letters. They haven't offered me any other position yet but I'm not going to wait and find out, I told them I'm done. One good thing though, it was a good exercise in editing foreign correspondence.
yes, thanks for this thread... I did 2 edits for them, so now I can stop.
how about this... lets setup a bunk bank account, play along with the scam, and STEAL their money instead??? :)
:)
I wouldn't. You may find people with AK47s at your door.
Thanks everybody for posting. I've edited 4 texts and they said they'd pay me after a month through Western Union. That's a scam where they overpay you, you send them a refund, and when the WU payment is a fake, you're out the refund. I should email them this page!!!!
Well, it seems that it is still continuing on the Cleveland Plain Dealer website. I'm sure glad I read this blog, I almost fell victim to the same scenario as so many did before me. They sent me an attachment and I didn't want to open it because it just screamed "virus" or scam. So I opted to Google it and found this article as well. Man it would have been so easy though lol Oh well.
I corrected text from a gmail email account for the dating Team. The second email to correct had a letter to correct that spoke of a person getting 5% of the money. That sent off a red flag. The tried to make me think it was a Dating Service I would be working for. The never asked for SS# or bank info. It was probably next though.
I played for 4 days as well because it was easy and I knew it was a scam. However, I was willing to give up 1 hour of my time in CASE I was paid. Once I knew what they were doing, I have too much honor (REGARDLESS of my finances)to launder money. I hope others feel the same. Our US economy is SCREWED up because we have FORGOTTEN as a NATION what personal honor and responsibility means.
After continued typing night after night, something told me to google their address to see what would come up. I found this blog page, and read all the comments, and think I will start going to bed at night.
I replied to this job last week and edited 5 text messages. Today I received an invitation to join them as a local agent. The twist, they want me to open a NEW account at WAMU or Bank of America. They say to only use the account for their business. Well, I'm NOT opening any account. I had emailed a copy of the ad to myself and I've now forwarded it to Careerbuilder fraud alert. They also had a lady's name down as a Supervisor for local agents here in Dallas. I forwarded this letter to Careerbuilder too and asked if we could get local authorities involved to bust this lady - Frances Mackey and her crew for money laundering. Thanks for the info you have on this site. I found it after I was researching if this opportunity was a fraud.
Wow, guess I got dooped as well. I began to get a bit uneasy after ready the text that I was correcting and it spoke of a dating service then it began ot talk about the exchange of money or giveing money to the person they are trying to date. I have currently done 4 assignments and really needed the money for my wife and daughter, but not if it means running the risk of going to jail. Then I really would be letting them down. It's just not worth it. Too good to be true. Dang. I'm done. Best to all
THANK YOU!!!

I did transcription at an office during the summer in college so I thought this would be something similar - what a bummer!!! I did two transcriptions and they offered me the "local consultant" position with no description, job details, etc, that's when I became extra suspicious.

I have fallen for this scam, and have stopped editing text. Luckily I haven't given them my full address or bank details.
I emailed them asking them about job scams and they sent me this reply.
"You can make curtain of it puting www.dating.ru in the google.com
search. This is our guarantee that we are the world leader dating
company and everyone is pleased by our work and trust us."
I have put them in my spam folder, but I would like to block them from webmail.
I am from england so this scam has moved from America to England (UK). There should be some sort of scam alerts listed on the ISP homepage to tell us about these scams.
