Hong Kong Spam

I collect spam. Sounds silly, but I do pass the information to many organisations who use it to protect themselves.

Recently, there has been a large increase in spam based on .hk domain names. It would appear that spammers and other related crooks have realised that the Hong Kong domain registration allows anybody to register anything.

But are the authorities fighting back.

In the last two days, I've had two Hong Kong domain-based scams; LB-Technology and United Cargo Solutions. In fact I've received well over a hundred e-mails from both.

All web sites associated with these scams appear to have been shut down in the last few hours. This morning, another Hong Kong based scam, Lux Capital, also seems to have been torpedoed.

So perhaps the fightback has begun against the spammers.

I have a lot more quantitative information on this and other spam matters if anyone is interested.

LB Technology

Yet another fraud which tries to separate the gullible from their money.

But interesting about this one is that the authorities have set up the domain name as disputed. Perhaps this is because I got 133 spam messages before eight o'clock this evening.

Is this cancellation an improvement?

This is the message.

Dear recipient,

The leading Hong Kong LCD company, LB Technology, is once again beginning a global campaign of employing new staff in United Kingdom.

Due to our exploding growth, we are further expanding our business to the European region. During our last employment campaign we successfully employed hundreds of Retail Representatives and Couriers. And now we are offering you one more opportunity to earn extra cash working with us.

We are looking for honest, responsible, hard-working people to operate with our company in your particular region. These openings are part-time positions with the opportunity to make GBP300-500 per month working 1-2 hours per day with us.

Please visit our web site LB Technology for more details regarding these vacancies.

Brought to you by Monster and JobsUK.

This is very much the usual crap from these fraudsters.

Perhaps it got cancelled as Monster and JobUK are reputable companies.

Has UK Bank Phishing Ended? - Part 3

Barclays Bank phishing scams came back with a bang yesterday.

There were 371 of them of which 282 asked you to log into a web site based in Hong Kong.

I've mentioned before about Hong Kong and how a large proportion of spam uses .hk domains. It has gone beyond a joke in the last few days and I suggest that we do a bit more than give them a good kicking.

Has UK Bank Phishing Ended? - Part 2

They're still keeping at a very low level.

Even the US ones have dropped to a few a day.

Both Celia and myself have our own domain names, although she uses her as an e-mail address and I don't.

I wonder if when she fills in a form on the Internet, she gets a better response because she looks more important.

Junk Based on Hong Kong

I did a major analysis on the spam I received for the 20th March.

In total I got 3,504 pharmaceutical spam messages out of a total of just under 7,000. Of these 1,052, were based on Hong Kong web addresses.

This is a new phenomenon and accounts for the increase in this type of spam over the last few weeks.

Perhaps someone should give the Authorities in Hong Kong a great big kick up the arse.

Goodbye Radius, Hello Lux

The group that cloned the Radius Group web site as a scam has now done it with Lux Capital.

They don't seem to be sending quite as much of their junk as they did for Radius, but I suspect they'll ramp them up in the next few days.

A Day with no Bank Phishing

I don't believe it, but yesterday, I got no bank phishing e-mails. It was so surprising I checked I hadn't made a mistake.

Has UK Bank Phishing Ended?

Over the last month except for one day, there have been very few bank phishing e-mails.

UK Bank Phishing E-Mails - Click for large

The graph shows the rise and fall since the beginning of May last year.

Does this mean the end of them?

I suspect not.

Radius Group Revisited

For the last three days, I've had no spam for the Radius Group. The messages started on the 5th February and continued until the 17th March. My heart goes out to the real Radius company, as how much damage has it done to their reputation.

Or did they treat it as an opportunity for free publicity?

Patientline

The scams seem to have stopped.

Perhaps the British aren't so gullible as the Yanks and no one bought the shares.

I certainly wouldn't but that is because I feel there business model is all wrong and no-one really likes the product. Those make it an ideal candidate for failure.

Obviously, these are big topics for anybody using or developing Internet or computer applications. Tim Trent pointed this site out to me, when he commented about Patientline.

At a first glance it looks a very comprehensive resource.

Pump and Dump comes to the UK

I received the following e-mail this morning 345 times.

Interesting considering Julia George's story on BBC Breakfast this morning, which says that the rules on mobile phones in hospital are being relaxed.

Mission of PATIENTLINE

Patientline's mission is to be the UK market leader in the provision of bedside systems in acute hospitals, offering communication, entertainment, information and healthcare services for patients, clinicians, administrators and other users.

Products and services

The Patientline systems include a terminal at each bed. These provide telephone, television and radio and in most hospitals, internet, gaming and email services. The systems can also provide additional hospital based services such as electronic patient records and food ordering functionality.

A large audience, nationwide coverage and a wide range of advertising options makes Patientline the ideal choice for advertisers. With a TV and telephone at bedsides in over 155 NHS hospitals Patientline can offer advertisers the chance to communicate directly to the patient using the television whilst also providing a strong call to action via the telephone.

* Nationwide coverage (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland)

* Over 75,000 bedside TVs and telephones ~ Potential annual audience of 8 million

* Over 155 NHS hospitals offer Patientline services

The company offers the really necessary service. Any man or women, who will ever get in a hospital will be happy to use the services of the company. The company found an absolutely new direction of business. No doubts that it will come to success in the nearest time.

For 14 March 07 company price 1.85p per share.

Call your broker today if you are interested.

Company stock symbol is PTL.L at the london stock exchange.

Buy it now and get benefits tomorrow

Could this be because the US autothorities are clamping down on spammers, so they are turning their attention elsewhere?

It should be noted that the cost of the services of this company, have been under discussion in newspapers and on television for some time.

More and More Casinos

Over the last few weeks, there has been an explosion in Casino related spam.

First it was the Royal Euro Casino and now we have Vegas VIP Casino. You've guessed it they are same bunch of people, who aim to separate fools from their money. And they even have the same phone number in Antigua.

So that is one place I urge people not to visit.

Operation Spamalot - The SEC Acts

The SEC has acted to suspend stocks named in spam e-mails.

Good.

But it is only for ten trading days, when it should be for at least thirty. They should also act quicker and suspend stocks within a day or so of their appearing on the spammers targets.

Wide-screen Displays

I've just added a wide-screen flat-panel display to my computer.

It strikes me that this is a better shape for a PC display, as you get more programs in the task bar at the bottom and the low height of the display fits well on a desk.

Royal VIP and Eurocas

Royal VIP, the well-known on-line casino, is starting to use the address www.eurocas.net to publicise its services.

Could it be that Royal VIP has not been that successful, so they are hoping that a change of name will help?

I hope so!

DON'T EVER DEAL WITH THIS TYPE OF ON-LINE CASINO.

Dayne Jackson

This kind person has sent me eight-nine messages saying he's sent $68 to my PayPal account. They all have the same transaction ID and come from a web site in Montevideo.

Pity.

Everyone could do with that sort of money.
