Emerson Electric Co

Emerson Electric is a very respected US company.

I'm pretty sure that this crap wasn't from them. The address is correct but the 707 phone number is not Missouri but California.

Looks like fraud to me and I'll give it two out of five.

I got this email as well. Two things got my attention. It showed up in my spam box, and the hotmail address as well. No respected company uses a hotmail address. They usually use their company name. My question is, How does this scam work?

The same email turned up in Australia today. I have forwarded it on to the Emersons Head Office in Australia, and their Asia Pacific Headquarters in Singapore for comment

1. Stop all contact with teh company.

2. Go to their bank and tell the manager what they have done. The bank account should be closed and a new one opened.

Which country are they in?

They are in the US. They have not deposited anything they said they have received their first check to be deposited today and has tried calling the number but no one answers.

In that case they should go to their bank with the cheque and give it to the Manager and explain everything. They may well want to pursue these people, especially as no crime has been committed by your friend. In the US by depositing the cheque he may actually be commiting a money-laundering crime and if he loses any money the bank will probably not reimburse him.

The bank account should still be changed.

So the only information given was address email and cell phone number.. would he still have to change bank accounts if nothing was done with banks at all?

I just got the "job offer" and it is as fake as all other job offers, I even got an email address for the fakes. SO FAR, I have gotten $689,000 of fake checks, money orders, traveler checks, and US postal money orders,in just 2 years. but as long I know it is fraud I never cash it.

I received this from a friend who asked me to check it out. My first indication that it was a fake was when they said that they needed me to deposit their money into my account, giving this company access to my account information. That is a big no no. Secondly they told me how they receive their money from the people who buy from their company. What self respecting company would do that?
